ADC in PTLE 7.1.......

Why haven't we seen Auto Delay Compensation yet in PTLE? I commend digi for the music upgrade option and the DV Toolkit 2, but come on... For someone who uses outboard gear during mixes via digi's own feature of "Hardware Inserts", I find it very annoying that digi is digging their heels so much to implement such a basic little feature that is required when using outboard gear during mixing. I would much rather have ADC in ProTools LE than any more free plugins I will never use... I'd even pay $500+ dollars for the music upgrade if it included ADC!!!

Just curious... how would ADC make any difference in using ouboard gear via inserts? The latency there is caused by the D/A/D conversions and your buffer size, not plug-ins.

On TDM systems you can compensate for the latency of D/A/D when using outboard inserts, which you should be able to do on any system that supports outboard inserts...

Do you know how much processing power the ADC in HD takes up? I don't use it at all on our HD2 rig as it severly affects the number of plug-ins you can run. I would imagine this is the reason they don't put it in LE, there'd be no CPU left for any plug-ins to compensate for. I guess I don't understand all the fuss about ADC, it seems like a lot more trouble than it's worth, I find it infinately easier to just copy the playlist and nudge the tracks positions if I run into any delay problems (which is almost never).

It should still be an option. I suspect that on todays modern G5s and such it wouldn't be a huge deal. Especially when each outboard piece of gear I use is one less plugin to take up CPU power.

"I guess I don't understand all the fuss about ADC, it seems like a lot more trouble than it's worth, I find it infinately easier to just copy the playlist and nudge the tracks positions if I run into any delay problems" that is such a strange comment ! When anyone, hobby-guy pro mixer is mixing he doesn't want to deal with nudging tracks when he adds a plug in and is into mixing mode ! If you want to use Protools as you can do in logic and mix internal in logic with for example your synths going into the inputs and playing in monitoring thru that might be more difficult ... wait i don't want to even write that as it is a code of automatic nudging. The tracks know what the delay is, so why not doing it by themselves ! Digidesign isn't any dumber than a Logic developer or nuendo or whatever... because of their TDm systems they should be a step up in knowledge.
