hi all, I am in the 'lab' the director net door. I have run out of tracks.., 32 used.., and now we need more tracks to record a 'radio show' as atmos fo a shop. its a mock radio show so we dont bang into rights problems. plus there may be a few other things but i can sneek them onto tracks that are empty at the position in time. can I assign new busses and send them to a new master fader and then output hose to a single master fader or willl both ;bounce' together. I hope this makes sense, peple are waiting so I have to run. the question is, can i get more tracks from PT LE than the 32 prescribed. my set up is simple all DIA to a DIA Aux all FX to the FX Aux ect ect all to one master fader out. cheers all.
Deactivate your FX tracks and you'll be able to add more tracks. I tend to keep separate sessions for each element Production, ADR FX, Foley, MX so it's easier to stay organized and divide up the work if there are multiple editors, but you can keep it all in one LE session if you deactivate the tracks on which you're not working. If you like, you can bounce them down to make guide tracks so you can have a "mix in context" to work with. At some point, you'll premix your tracks before the final mix into separate predubs that will give you enough separation, yet still be managable in LE. Keep all the raw tracks deactivated in your final mix session just in case you need to change something.
thanks.., cant afford tooll kits at the moment (should ask the ui to but it) and using the uni computers.., well there is no rewire there, here at home I could use cubase 4.., dont know how many I can get out of soundtrack pro 2.., anyway.., at uni they wont even let me put in the 'inspector' plugin?? no accounting for politics is there. but the deactivation of tracks and guide tracks.., I think I know what you mean.., always so easier when there is someone to show me.., like the bussing problem.., spent ages here.., but when a friend showed me.., i took ten minutes. i think I over complicate things. what you are saying is 'I could bounce a few FX tracks down and use the sum of them as a quire until the final mix.., from there.., im a little hazy but Ill thhink more about it.., and keep the FX tracks by deactivating them cheers for that.., simple but great workflow.., simple is GOOD. as someone said here.., the magic of protools is its simplicity.

I'm all for sharing information and my experience, but for basic Pro Tools information you should look here: Look up "Making Tracks Inactive" Speaking of simplicity, I would skip all the bussing and auxes until you're finished editing and are ready to mix. Even then, use busses and auxes only if you really need to for a valid reason like sending multiple tracks to the same reverb or creating stems. Don't just do it for the sake of doing it. You might be making things more complicated for yourself. Good luck.
I'm all for sharing information and my experience, but for basic Pro Tools information you should look here: i hear that and I agree, I dont want to put weight on people shoulders out of laziness.., im just so new I dont even know what to look for.., eg.., 'make tracks inactive'.., as a way 'round getting more tracks. thanks for the link.., im downloading it now and will install it at uni too.
