Anyone know of a cheap/free simple drum program that i can use to make a quick simple beat with my keyboard or with a pattern panel? I know Redrum in Reason will do the pattern panel, but it would be nice to have one that i can trigger with Midi as well. I have BFD2 which is awesome for sounds, and i guess if the Midi is easy enough in Reaper that could work... But I'm trying to make a simple setup for someone thats not too computer savvy. Thanks

You mean, there's no drum roll in Reaper? Just Piano roll?

Hahaha, thank youuuuuu. Yeah, I meant something like that, like in Cubase, seeing diamonds when editing-creating drum stuff. And the humanizing thingy is great too. Yahooo!! (no, not that site where you search for things and gives you free email) LOL. Thanks again.

microtonic is a hoot...really love it. i use it for my synthetic drums, and superior for the real stuff. i'm thrilled with them both. it's cheap, and a lot of fun to play with. it has a step sequencer that syncs to your host (similar to redrum), and you can chain several patterns to create longer ones. it supports multitimbral operation, and you can opt to input to the separate drums by either channels or notes. you can also export either audio or midi files of the chains you program. it's a pretty hip little plugin. kell

I had a go with Hydrogen a while ago - seemed to do most things I wanted for a freebee

hiya im new here...just joined today reaper is indeed the answer to any audio producer's prayers.... try ou the readrums template... use th diamonds / named notes and try multi-channel sends for a matrix where you can later tweak indivdual sample sounds.....awesomeness that list fo free drum warez is ridiculously well done for non-vst simple but effective drum machines : leafy drums, hotstepper and hammerhead (of course) as well as the aforementioned hydrogen for vst based : erratic (8 tracks but many intersting ideas with prob. porgamming) or slifty (4 tracks only but soo mnay posisbilies with rpob programming)
