bezo - mersis is correct. MIDI THRU is an output, for chaining MIDI sound modules, but not for chaining MIDI controllers. You need a MIDI interface with multiple inputs, or at least a MIDI merge box (which will add latency, at least sometimes)

Mersis, I completely missed the bottom 2/3 of your post. I didn't read beyond the smilie face thinking the rest was your signature. Thanks!!! I had no idea thru was an output. But I'm still confused. Can you confirm the ins & outs for me? Synth(A) out(thru) to 002 in Drum machine(B) out to synth in 002 out1 to drum mahine(B) in nothing from the second out of the 002? Also, what should the MIDI set-up look like... referring to the "Edit MIDI Studio Set Up" diagram under the Setups drop menu? There doesn't appear to be a connection that represents the thru output in the diagram. And the diagram won't allow me to connect the instruments to each other. And I should've mentioned this earlier, but I want each instrument to controll its self. Will this set-up do that? Thanks again!

TP, I don't want either instrument to control the other. I just want to be able to record MIDI from both without having to switch the MIDI cords around.
