yes! no encoding is done, only copy of streams :) BHH

try to collect all info about the stream (avinaptic report is a start) also a fragment of mkv able to replicate the problem could be handy for debug pourpose (cut with mkvtoolnix) BHH

Is it possible to use AVIMuxGUI to convert containers from MKV to AVI in one step? For the life of me I cannot find a way to do it.... Sorry for the newbie question, but I got myself a PMP that plays only AVIs and my movie collection is in MKV... Thanks!!

not possible.. use ffmpeg ffmpeg.exe -i video.mkv -acodec copy -vcodec copy video.avi BHH

Thanks for the tip. I tried it but for some reason I get a file that has defects in the video and I got a bunch of errors in the command prompt. I have absolutely no idea why this happens and what the error messages mean and unfortunately it is a bit overwhelming to me. I took another route: extract the streams with mkvextract and mux audio and video with avimuxgui. Apparently it works... Thanks anyway.
