Everytime i start up P/T a message comes up telling me i need to update my firmware to 1.21r can't seem to find this anywhere on the site. Also my pro tools rig is not set up to the net so i need to be able to d/l it. If anyone can shed some light that would be great; thanks.

When the message says "download", it means from your computer to the 002r, not from the internet. As mentioned, just click "ok". I also believe it is recommended that you restart your computer afterwards.
When i go OK it just keeps trying to load something. The cd drive doesn't do anything it looks like it's looking for the net; and this comp is not connected to it. If it the firmware installs when i install P/T why would it tell me to update to the newer firmware right away after installation (makes no sense). Any other suggestions?
Sometimes the firmware on the hardware (Digi002R) needs to be updated to take advantage of changes made to the different versions of Protools LE. The firmware updates are downloaded from your computer's hard drive (the firmware update files are placed there when you install a different version of Protools) to the Digi002R. It does not need to go to the Internet. It does not need to go to your CD-ROM. Provided you installed Protools correctly, it should have no problems finding the firmware files already on your hard drive to update the firmware on the Digi002R hardware. Your Didi002R must be connected to your computer via firewire and turned on. Several people have said the same thing here but if you're not getting it, we can try again. Is it that the firmware update is not completing or you don't know how it can work without being connected to the Internet or accessing your CD-ROM drives?
I did an upgrade a few years ago (probably from 6.11 to 6.4, I think). Pro Tools did indeed want to download a firmware update from the internet. It wasn't included with the upgrade CD. My recording computer was connected to the internet through another computer with a firewall. I disabled the firewall, it got it's firmware update, and I reenabled it.
That is absolutely incorrect - the firmware update DOES NOT go through the internet. Obsidian Dragon is correct - the firmware is part of the 002 controller profile and sends the update from your computer to your 002. There is no way for it to happen via the internet.
