Just been reading on when the last 240s where built which states May 1993 . My Torslanda was registered in August 1993 I wish I could find out if it was one of the very last ones . EDIT.... Just been on the phone to volvo customer services , they cannot give me a build date as they are having PC problems apparently . What they could tell me though was that the car was brought to the UK , April 7th 1993 . Probably boring post for some on here , but its made me happier knowing more about it .

What are you not sure of? In the 1993 model production year (which probably starts in September 1992) there were 23,343 of the 240 estate type vehicles produced in Sweden - (there was another factory for the North American market but I don't know what the US arrangements for 240's were in 1993). Of the Swedish production of 23,243 in that year, yours was 16,431 st from last.

I suppose it doesn't tell you how many of the cars produced were RHD, or Torslandas - which were RHD and presumably UK only (not sure on that one). There weren't a great many UK cars though, I've said before I was always suprised it wasn't more popular, and I can recall Torslandas which sat in dealer's for quite some time.

Forgive the ressurection of an old thread but do you happen to know what the last chassis number was for the 240? Have been intrigued for some time to know how late my own one is.

registering a vehicle could be years later than their age of manufacture ,i expect some new cars have been sitting in secure parks for a couple of years before being sold

The last model year was 1990 I think, on a H plate. There might be a few running about on a J plate. I'd also like to know how close to the end of production mine was, it would be interesting to find out the newest and oldest surviving 240s.
