Is it possible to apply fade in/out to the video portion of an imported video? And can you add captions? If I could do this, I could dump adobe premiere altogether...

Start playing. Open the video-window, Drop a videofile on a track, insert Videoprocessor on that track as Fx and have a go with the presets.
