Hi, I'm using Protools LE with an M-box on Mac OSX. Can anyone recommend the best way to make loop tracks using my set up? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I can do it using Protools alone. Are there some good plug-ins, or other software out there I can use to make loop tracks? Thanks for any recommendations. Cheers, Metrov
No reason why you can't. Just import whatever audio you want to loop into Pro Tools, cut and copy as many times as you need to. You can get a little more complicated than that, but that's the most basic idea.
Yeah, I guess that would be one way to do it; seems a bit crude though. I thought maybe there was a program like Acid Pro or something for making loop tracks that works on a Mac. Thnx
Here are a few options that would work: 1. Import your loop as a region into ProTools. Once you've gotten your loop to the exact length you want it, select the entire region and hit Edit-->Identify Beat. That will set the tempo on Pro Tools so that it matches the tempo of your loop exactly. Then activate "Grid" mode in the corner of the edit window. This will create a grid in Pro Tools that matches up to the beats of the tempo you created--matching your loop. That way you can use Apple+D to duplicate your loop, or Apple+R to create a certain number of repeats with one command. In Grid mode, you can slide your audio around to any location you want, and it will automatically snap to the nearest beat, in time with your loop. 2. Rewire Reason Adapted to Pro Tools as a slave. In Reason, create a mixer and a Dr. Rex Loop Player. This will slave to the master tempo setting in ProTools. Play with Reason for a while and see what's available to you. 3. Play around with Ableton Live. I haven't used the program much, but it's supposed to be really good for this stuff.
"Live" get it now, you will not be disappointed in the loop dept. You can rewire it to PT and have it running loops in the background in sync with your PT creations. You can also "play" live like an instrument with proper key/or midi controlers...This will free up tracks in PT for other things
