group stretch: can Reaper do this?

Niiiice, didn't think it was possible either ! My way would have been like this: - Copy items to new empty project - Adjust playrate fader until you have the desired length - Apply playrate to current bpm - copy the resulting items back to source project

It is well hidden but thanks to slops all can see it's glory now! ;) Still would like a physical grab one like the first licecap but at least it's possible now and also on more than one track. In fact you can also use it to fit whole areas to a time selection. Great if your doing music to visuals :)

I would love to be able to do this with a mouse modifier. Anyone ?

Yep, that highlight when things are about to snap somewhere is beautiful indeed. I'd love that.
