For anyone who has heard of, or likes this band, you'll want to check this out. These guys put out an album back in 2009 and had a strong single with 'Mountain Man'. I picked up the album on the strength of that track, and quickly appreciated their writing and their performances overall. Almost every song on that album is great. Anyway, as the story goes, they don't have the financial backing that they once did, so they went the kickstarter route. Wish I came across this earlier, but I just saw this, and there's only 3 days left. Here's their page, and you'll quickly see what a good band these guys are if you are into a mix of classic/modern/rock/melody/songwriting/etc/etc. Why do I care? Well, I liked the band's last album a lot. I also think this is a great business model, and I like the idea of directly supporting the bands that I enjoy. So, check it out if you will, or not :). Here are some songs from their last album in case you aren't familiar with them, so you know what you're getting into. Mountain Man Raincoat (my favourite song from the first album - it's brilliant - grooves like a motherfucker) You Got Me

I thought I was the only person alive who heard and enjoyed Mountain Man on rock radio for the one month of airplay it got in '09. I will never understand how a great track like that doesn't get more deserved attention... especially when finding good new rock on the radio is becoming nearly impossible. Thanks for the links.

It may not end up being kickstarter in the end, but this is the way that things are going to work more and more from here on in. Fans supporting bands directly. Back in the days before the internet was a factor, I wished that I could have supported my favourite artists directly without 95% of my contribution going to the record company and all the associated costs that were thrust upon artists. Now I can. I want to give my money to artists that I enjoy because they give me a hell of a lot more back in return. I believe that lots of people want to support artists that they love. I want it to go to the artist though, not to their loan sharks.
