Hello, I am days away from purchasing a new HD3 Accel system from the ground up, using the Mix+ Hardware Exchange program. However I just realized a quite I big issue I may have overlooked. Does HD3 Accel means that all 3 PCI cards are Accel? There are still a bunch of HD compatible plugs that are NOT HD Accel compatible. If I buy a new system it seems as if the system is as follows but Im still not 100% sure: An original HD Core, and two Accel Cards. Will HD only plugs run on this Core card (such as Autotune)? Is the HD Core in Accel systems any different than the original HD Core card? Ive Read all the posts I can and the compatibility docs, but im still a little unclear. So basically, what I am asking is, will a brand new HD3 Accel system be able to run non-Accel HD plugins? Does this mean I should wait? Im trying to sort this out before the Dec 20th exchange date ends. thanks MT
Hey, The simple answer is that it will all be OK. An HD3 Accel system will consist of an HD Core card and 2 Accel cards. The plugins that are not Accel ready will load onto the core card. So everything is cool. The info on this is not very good on this site. I am running a HD system with a core card, 2 process cards and and Accel card. Good luck with your upgrade.
Thanks Ed. Hmm.. Seems to me like yet another mess could happen with an introduction of an Accel Core Card. Oh well, got jump on the upgrading bandwagon at some point. thanks again MT

Do be aware, however, that if you plan on doing any midi with your Accel system, you will encounter problems until a bug fix for 6.2 is released, hopefully in the very near future. Cheers, Joel
I honestly think anyone in this predicament should call Digi (tech) and make this point. It's been explained to me numerous times by Digi (not that it needed to be) that the level of priority they attribute to this (or other) cause is directly proportional to the number of calls/complaints/DUC posts etc. If enough request an upgrade extension in view of the midi bug and the impact it will have on their work, I feel sure Digi will make some kind of allowance. If not, they are, albeit unintentionally, misrepresenting their Pro Tools Accel as being fully midi capable, and that's a no-no. Cheers, Joel
