I tried to record into PTFree for the first time last night and it would not show a input level, or give any kind of monitor in. It definitely takes the Sound Manager completely because any other apps I tried reported errors with the Sound Manager. After quitting PTFree I tried Coaster, it worked great. In the full boat PT systems there's the Hardware Setup for this kind of thing, alas Free does not feature the same as far as I can tell. The only other settings I can check are the Sound Managers, but hey, no brainer there right? SO, IS THE DIGI FREE TECH OUT THERE! What the heck am I missing here? Cheers!

I have it working beautifully on my G4 and have finished a couple of songs already so I know you can get this figured out. However... "It definitely takes the Sound Manager completely because any other apps I tried reported errors with the Sound Manager." What do you mean? I had some dificulty until I realized you have to set your input preferences in sound manager BEFORE you launch PT Free. Set your input to "sound in" , then launch PT. If this is not the solution for you try explaining the problem again and maybe someone else will chime in. Good luck Gerald-o

Thanks for your reply Gerald-o, I do have my Sound Manager settings set to "Sound In" before I fire up PTFree. When it is running and I try to fire up Sound App or Coaster they report a error with the Sound Manager. My audio applications that use the Sound Manager all run together without complaints. It's only with PTFree that they bomb out. In the past I have run Feltip Sound Studio and PTFree together without problems of any kind. I'm beginning to think that I might need to up-grade my Sound Manager. I am running a G4/450-OS8.6 Compaired to a full house PT system this should be a no brainer. Maybe that's it, it's too easy! Cheers!

Hmmm... May I ask why you loaded 8.6 on your G4. I am running PT Free with OS9 and occasionally I have freezes but nothing is lost after I reboot. I have not tried the software you mentioned so if it's not an 8.6 issue it might be an extension conflict. Have you tried creating some custom extension sets? Try turning off the extensions for your other music software and then reintroduce them one at a time until you get a bomb. You also may want to consider going back to OS9 unless there is some important reason why you need OS8.6? IPT Free works great on my 400mhz/OS9 G4...It should work for you Don't give up, Gerald-o
