Hi. Wonder if anyone can help with a sync problem encountered with Pirates of the Caribbean? I've used DVD2SVCD for some time and the only other time I've experienced a similar sync problem was with The Time Machine. It's not hugely out - about a second - and comes in right from the beginning. I've a feeling that this has to do with trailers at the beginning of the movie - something Disney have a tendancy to do - and somewhere a while ago I'm sure I saw a thread relating to this! Somehow the trailers upset things and cause sync issues. I ripped using vstrip and TMPGenc with more or less standard settings throughout. Tried it twice and both times the same results. My other thought was to look at editing the IFO file to take out the trailer reference in the program chain, but I'm not sure if this will upset DVD2SVCD's operation. I've no idea how to do this but have seen seen some threads on this and there's 2Cools's guides which look good. many thanks

Thanks for replying Nick. Actually,I only started using vStrip as somewhere I read it helped to prevent sync problems! I much prefer Smartripper for normal rips. I confess I've never tried using the internal routines. Think I will start experimenting with it from now on tho. Unfortuntaely, the problem exists on all players, and when I tried a second time the muxed files also were out of sync. Think I still have the logfile from that one if that will help. I still have the orignal rip on my HD - but do you think I should rip again but using internal routines? The rip has no trailers and i was reading the recent thread from Scruffyman and wondered if my sync probs might also be similarly related perhaps to besweet (altho this is starting to get out of my depth here!) in which case perhaps I can still use this rip. Many thanks Paul

The first thing I would do is rip with internal routines, reconvert and see what happens. If it all goes wrong post back tomorrow with logfiles etc. If you are making SVCD not DVDR, your problem is unlikely to be linked to scruffyman's
