Yes your way will work.. And if you like it then that is all that matters. I like Prefader when doing the Crush comp buss Parallel thing. Because if I need to ride a fader like tom fills or certain snares hits or what ever.. i don't always want that fader level to effect the balance I had on the Parallel buss.. Now I always have a comp on my drum buss. That will get a changed a little as I make fader changes. But I like my parallel buss to sit a little more static underneath for glue.. but we all have are own way of working.. That's what makes it cool.

If you're using ReaComp, it has wet and dry faders as well as a wet/dry knob. The faders let you control the levels independently rather than adjusting them together. Wouldn't this do what you want?
